Dental bridges at Hilton Dental Clinic

Besides having dental implants, there are two main ways to replace missing teeth. The first is with a removable false tooth or teeth – a partial denture. The second is with a fixed dental bridge – usually used where there are fewer teeth to replace, or when the missing teeth are only on one side of the mouth.

Some people can have one or more teeth suffering from severe tooth decay, which can result in an entirely missing tooth, or not enough healthy tooth structure left on the decaying tooth to support a restoration like a dental crown. This is where a dental bridge can be a good solution; using two or more crowns which are fitted to the teeth on either side of a gap which support a false tooth, suspended over the gum to bridge the gap. Not everyone is suitable for a bridge, and it depends on a wide range of factors including the size of the gap and the status of the teeth on either side.

The benefits of a dental bridge

  • An effective way to restore several teeth in a row
  • Attractive, natural-looking tooth replacement
  • Restores your ability to chew and eat as before
  • Will help you smile with confidence!

Having lost my front tooth and bridge during the first lockdown my dentist eventually referred me to Hilton Dental Clinic as a conventional bridge would no longer work. They gave me a plan of action which all went incredibly smoothly. I now have completed my treatment and to be able to eat and taste food again without a plate is a pleasure I cannot describe. A big thank you for the professionalism of the dentist and staff. It is so nice to look like me again.

How dental bridges work?

1. Bridges are usually made of a precious metal base, which gives them a solid structure and makes them hard-wearing. If you need a bridge in your smile line, porcelain is usually added to the base to make it look more like real teeth.

2. A bridge helps to strengthen the prepared teeth and makes chewing and eating easier because they are fixed and can't come out.

3. Some bridges can also be fixed to your jaw with dental implants, if you have several teeth next to each other that are missing.

Life benefits of bridges

  • A sturdy way to restore several teeth in a row.
  • Beautiful, natural-looking restoration.
  • Restores the ability to chew and eat as before.
