General dentistry in West Bridgford

Hilton Dental Clinic has been providing high quality family dentistry in West Bridgford for more than 50 years.

Bridges

Some people can have one or more teeth suffering from severe tooth decay, which can result in an entirely missing tooth, or not enough healthy tooth structure left on the decaying tooth to support a restoration like a dental crown.

This is where a dental bridge can be a good solution; using two or more crowns which are fitted to the teeth on either side of a gap which support a false tooth, suspended over the gum to bridge the gap.

Broken teeth

Broken teeth or chips are most commonly a result of minor or major facial impact, which can be scary when it happens!

Thankfully, we can fix broken teeth in a variety of ways; using fillings or dental bonding for minor chips, crowns to fix a large piece of tooth that has broken away, or veneers when one of the front teeth is chipped to disguise the damage.

Children’s dentistry

Our dentists are experienced with children’s dentistry and how to make sure they feel at ease during treatment, and we aim to prevent dental decay and disease from an early age, rather than treat it at a later date.

At a children’s dental appointment we’ll carefully examine the inside and outside of your child's mouth to check for any abnormalities or decay, make sure the teeth and gums are healthy, treat any issues we find, and provide them with good oral healthcare tips and advice.

Crowns

A crown, sometimes known as a ‘cap’, is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it stronger.

They can be made of porcelain, gold, or a combination of these materials, and help to restore the shape and health of your natural tooth. Crowns are an ideal restoration for teeth that have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling.

Dental check-ups

We have regular check-ups and services for lots of things in our lives, but it’s often our oral health maintenance that gets left off the list.

Regular dental check-ups are important because they allow us to monitor the health of your teeth and gums, and pick up minor issues like damage or decay early, before they become issues that need more extensive treatment.

Dental hygiene

Dental hygiene treatments help to keep your teeth and gums clean, which helps to reduce the build-up of plaque and bacteria and keep infections and tooth decay at bay.

Much like dental check-ups, it’s important to have semi-regular dental hygienist visits to maintain great oral health, and keep your breath nice and fresh.

Dentures

Replacing lost or missing teeth has great benefits not only for your appearance, but your dental health as well.

Without the support of your teeth, facial muscles can sag and sink inwards, which can make people appear older, and cause issues with eating and speaking properly. Dentures are a removable and cost-effective solution for people who have a half or full mouth of teeth to replace, with lifestyle-improving benefits.

Root canal

A root canal treatment (also called endodontics) is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury.

If the infection is left untreated, it can lead to a painful abscess and facial swelling, so we perform a root canal procedure to remove the infected pulp and clean and seal the tooth. If we catch the infection in time, we can usually save the tooth from needing to be extracted.

Tooth Extractions

We’ll always do what we can to save a tooth, but there are a few reasons why someone might need a tooth to be extracted.

Wisdom teeth are the most common teeth we need removed, but sometimes due to damage or decay the natural tooth isn’t able to be salvaged, and needs to be removed. We aim to make tooth extractions as comfortable and pain-free as possible, with comprehensive aftercare advice to help you quickly heal.

Lovely welcoming practice. Excellent service for me and my child who was made to feel at ease. Practice seemed clean and well organised. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
